In need of results

Valencia's caretaker coach Voro skirted questions about his thoughts on García Pitarch's resignation, and instead, he focused solely on tomorrow night's league game against Osasuna - a game in which he has included three reserve team players in the squad list: Lato, Carlos Soler and Sito

As a club man, what is going on at Valencia?

Right now I am the coach and my concern is with the team, and first of all, tomorrow's game. I cannot enter into, or give my views on everything that happens. These are issues which are there but I have to focus on my job and my responsibilities.

You say you are the coach but the chaos at the club is affecting the team. How can you isolatev the players from what's happening off the field?

What the team needs is resullts. If the objective is to start getting results, between the players and the coaching staff we have to finding solutions so that we can return to winning our games. That is the only thing that worries me. It's not my place to be discussing other matters. What gives me confidence as a coach, is seeing the players' attitude after Tuesday's defeat... I know that we are going to return to compete as a team, in spite of the difficulties we have, but the players know themselves that only results will change things for us. There's no other way around it.

Were you surprised by García Pitarch's decision to leave?

Excuse me for repeating myself, but I have already mentioned that I am not here to judge the decisions that others have taken. They will have their reasons. I am only here to answer questions about what I do. We don't have any time to lose doing anything else. The most important thing is tomorrow's game. If we can win, we will be taking a huge step to recovering what this club is about, and a step towards our objectives. As a football man, I can't see any other solution.

Reserve team players Lato, Mir and Soler are in the list. Will they be given a run-out?

Willingness and disposition is there,  the lads are giving everything they've got. The players who have been included in the list are the ones who I think can bring us something. Some players are ok, but not 100 per cent. This is a process and the decisions are made for the good of the team. If players are in the list, it's because we have faith in them.

Team effort

How can you resolve the lack of leadership?

Every team needs a leader - but you can't just go out and buy one from the supermarket. It's not that easy, Leaders are made. We need11 leaders out on the field, not just one. What will haul this team out of their situation is a collective effort - the strength we have a s a group. They need to have a clear idea about how to compete.

Valencia squad:

Alves, Jaume, Montoya, Mangala, Santos, Siqueira, Lato, Mario Suárez, Enzo, Parejo, Medran, Soler, Munir, Bakkali, Sito, Mina, Rodrigo, Mir and Nani.
