Top seed Novak Djokovic begins his bid for a seventh Italian Open title with a second-round clash against France’s Corentin Moutet on day five in Rome, while there is also plenty of US interest in the men’s singles today.

American trio Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Sebastian Korda all kick off their campaigns in Rome after receiving byes in the first round.

No. 11 seed Fritz plays Italy’s Fabio Fognini, who qualified for the second round by beating Great Britain’s Daniel Evans in the opening phase. Meanwhile, Ben Shelton - who is the 12th seed at Foro Italico - faces Russian Pavel Kotov, who saw off American Alex Michelsen in the first round. And, like Fritz, Korda comes up against home opposition today. The No. 24 seed takes on Flavio Cobolli after the Italian knocked out Germany’s Maximilian Marterer.

US pair Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe are also involved in the second round in the Italian capital, but don’t play until tomorrow. Paul faces Russia’s Aslan Karatsev, while Tiafoe is to go head to head with Germany’s Dominik Koepfer.
