Hellas Verona, only winless team in major euro leagues
The Italian side have yet to record a win all season but they can be consoled by the fact that they have more points than Europe's worst team, Ukrainian side, Zaporozhye.
All of Europe’s major leagues have reached their half-way points with just one club still seeking their first win of the season in major European leagues (Germany, Spain, Italy, England and France).
That dubious honour falls to Hellas Verona who are currently propping up the Serie A table having collected just 11 points all season. With 22 games played in the 2015/16 Italian campaign the ‘Gialloblu’ have yet to record a win and an overall balance of zero wins, eleven draws and eleven defeats. The Northern Italian city famously won the Scudetto in the 1984/85 season with the likes of Bagnoli, Elkjer Larsen and Briegel in their ranks and now over 30 years later find themselves in a desperate battle to maintain their top flight status.
The worst points record in Serie A of all time is held by Lecce as the Southern based side only managed to pick up 11 points during the 1993/94 season. The ‘Giallorossi’ s did manage to win three games during the course of that season and Verona will be anxious to avoid taking their place in the Serie A history books for the wrong reason.
Despite being win-less, Verona are not the worst team in Europe. That dubious honour falls to Ukrainian Premier League side, FC Metalurh Zaporizhya. The 'Cossacks' as the 81year old club are known have played 16 games in the first half of the domestic season and are also win-less, managing just three draws and thirteen defeats. Zaporizhya are somewhat goal-shy managing just seven goals all season and have conceded 50 with a dramatic goal difference of -43. The season restarts in Ukraine in early March and Zaporizhya will be hoping to amend their dire season when they face second bottom Hoverla Uzhhorod in a definitive basement battle at the Slavutych Arena.
