Atlético's Savic recruits Djokovic to the Rojiblanco cause

At the Madrid Open on Saturday, Novak Djokovic presented the Atleti defender with a shirt bearing the message: "Good luck in the final".

Novak Djokovic's fondness for watching Real Madrid has never been much of a secret.

One need look no further than Wednesday this week, when the Serbian tennis ace - currently in the Spanish capital for the Mutua Madrid Open - was seen at the Bernabéu for Los Blancos' Champions League semi-final second leg with Man City.

Previously, Djokovic - who saw off Scotland's Andy Murray in Sunday's final of the Masters 1000 event at the Caja Mágica arena - had already posed in the white shirt - and had even taken the honorary kick-off in a Real friendly with AC Milan.

However, the world number one has taken the opportunity to get behind Los Merengues' opponents, city rivals Atlético Madrid, ahead of the Champions League final on 28 May. Why? Atleti defender Stefan Savic has turned him into a Rojiblanco.

Montenegro international Savic is a massive tennis fan and, when his football commitments permitted, made sure to get to the Madrid Open this week to take in the action. He did not miss the opportunity to see Djokovic play, and was also able to enjoy a get-together with the man himself.

"It was a great pleasure to meet this great sportsman and even better person!" said Savic of the moment on his Instagram account.

And accompanying the message is a photograph of the Atlético player alongside Djokovic after the pair had taken the chance to swap shirts - with that of the tennis star coming with the message: "Good luck in the final".
