Pachín can't prevent Vasovic's goal. Partizan go 1-0 ahead. Real Madrid's home form was fundamental in taking them to the final: they won all their games at the Santiago Bernabéu, beating sides such as Feyenoord, Kilmarnock and Anderlecht. In the semi-fin
Real Madrid reacted and in a six minute spell were in front, with two of the finest goals the side has ever scored in their European Cup finals, the first from Amancio, the second from Serena (see next photos).
Amancio scores the first. He beat his marker and slotted the ball through keeper Soskic's legs.
Serena scores Real Madrid's second. A long range shot from a bouncing ball left the Yugoslav keeper on the ground and put Real Madrid in front. Miguel Muñoz re-organised the side, made up of all Spaniards, who defended their lead until the final whistle.
Real Madrid hold on.
The Real Madrid Yeyés side (named after the Beatles 'Yeah yeah yeah' chorus from She loves you) put the club back at the top of European football, winning the sixth European Cup. Real Madrid won the first five editions, from 1955-56 to 1959-60.
Veteran Paco Gento, captain of the team in the successful 1965-66 season, displays the trophy to the Real Madrid fans back in the Spanish capital.
