Extra-time goals from Jordi Alba and Neymar saw 10-man Barcelona retain the cup against Sevilla, who finished with nine after red cards for Éver Banega and Daniel Carriço.

10-man Barcelona produced a battling performance to see off Sevilla after extra time in an entertaining Copa del Rey final on Sunday - a triumph that enabled them to complete a Spanish league and cup double.
Javier Mascherano's sending-off late in the first half handed the initiative to Sevilla, who came into the clash fresh from Europa League victory over Liverpool in midweek.
But Unai Emery's men couldn't make their advantage count - thanks in part to a wonderful defensive display from Gerard Piqué - and, after Éver Banega's red card had levelled up the numbers, Jordi Alba's goal in the first period of the additional half hour left Los Azulgranas with one hand on the cup.
Daniel Carriço was then sent off for two quick bookings in the closing moments of extra time to reduce Sevilla to nine, before Neymar hit a second to seal victory for Barça, who add the trophy to the LaLiga title won last weekend.
In an evenly-matched first 45, Luis Suárez snatched at an early chance, and Coke - his side's hero in Basel - spurned Sevilla's best opportunity of the half when he sliced well wide from a Vitolo cut-back into the box.
And with ten minutes remaining in the period, there was high drama as last-man Mascherano saw red for pulling down Kevin Gameiro on the edge of the area.
Sevilla were a man up, and Banega's effort from the resulting free-kick drew a smart stop from Marc-André ter Stegen before Barça's Piqué headed over on the stroke of the break.
The second half witnessed Sevilla press to break the deadlock, their clearest openings falling to Banega and Grzegorz Krychowiak - but the Argentine's low drive bounced back off the post, and the Pole's strike was deflected wide. Meanwhile, Sergio Escudero almost caught out Ter Stegen at his far post with a looping cross-cum-shot.
And as the clock ticked past the regulation 90 at the Vicente Calderón, Banega was dismissed for bringing down Neymar, with Sergio Rico tipping over the Messi free-kick that followed, having already denied the 28-year-old from a similar dead-ball.
It was 10 against 10, and seven minutes into extra time Luis Enrique's team went ahead. Messi flighted a sumptuous pass to Alba running in behind Vitolo on the left, and the full-back held off the Sevilla man's attentions to score low across Rico.
Rico pulled off fine saves from Piqué, Dani Alves and Neymar, but after Carriço was shown a second yellow for dissent in the immediate wake of being booked for a foul, Sevilla's keeper was helpless to prevent the Brazilian striker from finishing things off.
Messi advanced into acres of space and fed a delightful ball into the left-hand side of the box for Neymar, who slotted into the corner to clinch Barcelona's 28th Copa del Rey.
Here's how it all unfolded:
Peeep! Barcelona win the Copa del Rey! It's a league and cup double for the Catalan side! After Javier Mascherano's red card in an evenly-matched first half, it looked for all the world like Sevilla were favourites to claim the Copa. But the Andalusians couldn't make their numerical superiority count in front of goal, and everything changed when Éver Banega's sending-off levelled things up at ten versus ten, with Luis Enrique's men taking full advantage to kill off their opponents in extra time. Sevilla's fans are in fantastic post-match voice despite the defeat, and Unai Emery's men are in tears on the Calderón pitch, while Luis Enrique understandably looks like the cat that got the cream. It's been a really enjoyable final.
Min 121 | Goooooalll! 2-0 to Barça! It's all over! Messi now has bags of space to run into, advancing towards the Sevilla defence on the edge of the box, waiting for Neymar's run and feeding a lovely little ball into the left of the area for the Brazilian to finish low into the far corner.
Min 120 | Sevilla are down to nine men! Carriço gets booked for a foul on Messi, gives the referee a barrage of lip - and is promptly shown his second. Brings back memories of Paolo Di Canio at Sheffield Wednesday back in the day.
Min 119 | Goal-scorer Alba is brought off for Sergi Roberto, getting an ovation from the Barça fans on his way off.
Min 118 | Del Cerro Grande blows for a Rami foul on Neymar, and the Sevilla defender can count himself lucky not to be shown a second yellow for his reaction, the Frenchman waving his arms wildly and screaming at the ref for the decision.
Min 116 | Sevilla get it forward and Gameiro tries to link up with Llorente with a cheeky backheel, but fails. Barcelona go up the other end, and Iniesta - who, by the way, has been terrific - exchanges passes with Neymar and cuts inside Coke to flight a cross to the back post, where the Brazilian is there with a header and a chance to finish it off - but it's too close to Rico.
Min 113 | Now Gameiro is the recipient of a yellow card, after a challenge on Rafinha. Sevilla will be doing well to finish with ten, here.
Min 112 | Sevilla aren't giving up by any means here. Konoplyanka controls on the left and knocks in a cross that's out by Busquets for a corner - which, unfortunately for the Andalusian half of the stadium, comes to zip.
Min 109 | Coke fires a shot in, but it's a tame daisy-cutter and Ter Stegen gathers. None of his ball-bursting Basel blasters tonight.... And what's this? Ref Del Cerro Grande comes to the touchline and needs medical assistance, availing himself of an impromptu thigh rub before getting us underway once more.
Min 107 | The olés start among the Barça fans as Iniesta shows all his class to shake off a couple of markers and get his side playing a bit of keep-ball, before Luis Enrique's men get themselves a free-kick. Neymar does something good, but Spanish TV is too busy showing us a replay and by the time we're back with the action, the Brazilian has been dispossessed.
Min 106 | Peep! A quick turnaround and we get back up and running.
Peeep! Half time in extra time. Unai Emery's side have 15 minutes to save this; otherwise it'll be a league and cup double for Barça. Iborra it is who makes way for Llorente.
Min 104 | Two more terrific stops from Rico! First he gets a hand to Alves's venomous shot from range, before keeping out Busquets on the follow-up. Fernando Llorente is preparing to come on for Sevilla.
Min 103 | Escudero becomes the sixth Sevilla player to earn a yellow card after bringing down Messi, and it's a free-kick from a similar position. Neymar sends it in to the far post, where Piqué is unmarked - but his header is somehow tipped over by Rico! Great save to keep his team in it!
Min 101 | Konoplyanka tugs Messi back as the Argentine plays a one-two with Neymar. Free-kick on the corner of the box for Barça. Messi fires it in and Rico beats it out at the near post.
Min 99 | Sevilla earn a free-kick on the left-hand sideline for Konoplyanka to deliver, but it's dealt with. Messi is then on the break and looks to catch Rico off his line from distance, but gets it all wrong.
Min 97 | Gooooooaaaal! Barça take the lead! Messi picks it up just inside the Sevilla half and dinks a wonderful ball over the top for the run of Alba, who holds off Vitolo to fire low across Rico and in at the far post! Have Barça battled back from being a man down to win this one?
Min 95 | Konoplyanka centres low, Gameiro and Iborra get in each other's way before the Frenchman finally gets his shot away - but it's blocked.
Min 94 | I've just noticed Luis Enrique is wearing shiny white trainers with his suit. Hmmm.
Min 92 | Krychowiak is next into the book for hauling down Neymar as Iniesta attempts to play it through for the Brazilian. Free-kick to Barça, which Messi sends in and is eventually out for a corner. Messi whips it in to the far post, where Alves nods it back - but no-one can take advantage.
Min 91 | Peeep! The added 30 minutes are underway. Ten vs ten.
Peeep! We go into extra time.
Min 94 | Iborra is almost on to it in behind last man Mathieu, but Ter Stegen gathers - and takes a boot in the midriff for his troubles. Iborra is booked. Time almost up here.
Min 91 | Banega sent off! It's ten against ten! Messi threads a delightful ball through for Neymar to run in on the left, and the Argentina international brings down the striker just before he's inside the box - with the red card brandished for being the last man. He's set to go to Inter Milan; what a sad way to end his Sevilla career. From the resulting free-kick, Rico tips over Messi's effort. A corner is then headed safely into Rico's arms by Mathieu.
Min 89 | Sevilla are back on the attack and Konoplyanka flights in a wonderful left-wing cross, but Ter Stegen holds on... Before almost giving it straight back with a comedy throw-out. Barça are then incandescent as Neymar thinks he's been brought down as he looks to run in on Rafinha's pass, but Del Cerro Grande is unmoved. Alves and Iniesta both get themselves booked for their protests, while Luis Enrique throws a right old wobbly on the touchline. Neymar also sees yellow.
Min 86 | Alba talks himself into the book after Neymar appears to be brought down by Krychowiak with no free-kick given. Looking at the replays, he did rather have a point.
Min 84 | Iborra is screaming for a penalty when he goes down under Alves' challenge as the pair go in for Coke's cross, but Del Cerro Grande says.... No. Five minutes to go - is yet another European domestic cup final going to extra time?
Min 83 | Barça's goalkeeping coach is kindly requested to vacate Los Azulgranas' bench for protests of some sort. He goes less than willingly.
Min 79 | Sevilla make their first change, as Yevhen Konoplyanka replaces Mariano. Sevilla have three corners on the trot but each time can't do anything with it. Coke then does his best to boot Mathieu's head off with an attempted overhead-kick attempt, but no harm appears to be done. Free-kick to Barcelona.
Min 77 | Mariano crosses with white shirts queuing up to head towards goal - but Piqué is there yet again to clear. Moments later, Gameiro is bursting in on the right and pulls the trigger, only for - yes, you guessed it - Piqué to block once more. Fantastic stuff from the centre-back.
Min 74 | Vitolo follows Rami into the book after felling Iniesta as the Spain star charges forward menacingly. Free-kick in shooting range for Barça, with Mr Messi lining it up... But it's comfortable for Rico - with members of the Sevilla bench anxiously looking away. I can't get used to Messi's beard.
Min 71 | Another long stint of possession for Barça's opponents (how often can you say that?)... Krychowiak sends a ball to the back post and just for a second it looks like Ter Stegen might be caught out. Rami is then the first man to pick up a yellow after he and Iborra combine to bring down Neymar, who reacts to the tag-team effort by squaring up to Iborra for a spot of handbags.
Min 68 | Barça carve out a free-kick on the right sideline, Messi delivers... And it's into Sergio Rico's arms.
Min 64 | There's a shooting chance for Gameiro, but it's deflected out for a corner, which is cleared - but only as far as Grzegorz Krychowiak, who has a run-up and a clear sight of goal just inside the area... And a Barça body is again in the way to divert the attempt off target. What a good chance to take the lead.
Min 62 | Messi seeks out Neymar with a sumptuous, chipped through ball. The Brazilian is given offside, but replays suggest he was level. Probably keeper's ball either way, though. At the other end, Gameiro lets it run and looks for the return from Iborra, but Piqué is again on the spot to cut it out.
Min 60 | Suárez is in floods of tears on the bench. His Copa América could well be up in smoke.
Min 58 | Sevilla enjoy another spell of prolonged possession and work it to Iborra on the left edge of the box, but Piqué shows all his class to block and play it clear. Sevilla go again and Banega's chipped pass looks to find Gameiro in behind the Barça backline, but it's meat and drink for Ter Stegen.
Min 54 | Suárez can't continue! He appeared to have done himself a mischief as he tried to pull down a Mathieu ball to the back stick moments before Messi and Carriço clashed, and soon after he drops to the turf signalling that he can't go on. He limps off extremely gingerly, and is replaced by Rafinha.
Min 53 | Alba volleys it back across goal with Messi going up for the header at the back post, and there's a nasty clash of heads between the Argentinian ace and Sevilla defender Daniel Carriço. Both need treatment but look to be OK...
Min 51 | Gameiro wins a corner off Piqué and Vitolo advances to the left touchline but sees his low cross cut out. The Andalusians have started on top and are making that man advantage visible.
Min 49 | Iniesta slips through a lovely ball for Neymar running into the left-hand channel... But the flag is up. Sevilla then get their foot on the ball and work it to Banega, who gets it out of his feet, thumps it low torwads goal - and it's out off the inside of the post! What a dig from the Argentine!
Min 46 | We're back underway... Mathieu is on in place of Rakitic to fill the Mascherano-sized hole in the Barça backline.
Peeep peeep! Half time at the Calderón, where it's been an enthralling - but as yet goalless - contest. There were chances for both teams in an even first 45, with the major talking point that sending off for Mascherano, who incidentally was the recipient of Los Azulgranas' only other red card this season. Judging by the replays, Señor Del Cerro Grande got it spot on. We'll have to see what Luis Enrique does to his side ahead of the second half. It's been fun - let's hope for more of the same after the break.
Min 45 | Neymar is quickly in the thick of it once more as he wreaks havoc on the edge of the Sevilla box, weaving his way in between three men before feeding Messi, who gets his shot away but sees it deflected away. Gameiro then has a chance to use his speed to break away, but his touch is long and Alba deals with it.
Min 43 | Ooooooh! Neymar wins a corner on the left, and Rakitic's delivery finds the head of Gerard Piqué - but his header is off target!
Min 39 | Busquets is filling in at centre-back for the moment, and it looks like it'll stay that way to half time at least.
Min 36 | Red card for Javier Mascherano! Iborra flicks on a header in behind the Barça defence and the Argentine is shoulder to shoulder with Gameiro - and is adjudged to have tugged the Frenchman down right on the edge of the box. He's the last man, so it's first dibs on the shower gel for the former Liverpool man. Banega stands over the resulting dead-ball... and Ter Stegen tips it over! On the touchline, Jeremy Mathieu is warming up.
Min 35 | Collectors' item: Iniesta receives it within an enclosed space and seemingly doesn't already know what to do next. Alves touches to Messi, who feeds the little maesto inside the box - but he loses it and it's out for a goal-kick.
Min 31 | Rami channels his inner John-Terry-at-World-Cup-2010 with a head-first sliding challenge on the breaking Neymar, and appears to catch the ball with his arm - but a throw-in is given.
Min 29 | Messi turns, advances towards goal and tries to feed Suárez peeling off the shoulder of his marker, but it's cut out. Barça come again, Neymar slipping it into Alba on the left-hand side of the box, and it's cleared for a corner. It eventually falls to Alves outside of the area - but the Brazilian's low shot trundles wide.
Min 25 | There's momentary panic in the Barça box as Rami bounces it back towards goal and first Iborra, then Gameiro strain to get a touch past Ter Stegen from nigh-on point-blank range. The flag is up for offside, however.
Min 24 | Éver Banega does well to beat Barça's pressing with a neat pass into to Coke, who threads it through for the run of Gameiro into the right-hand channel of the box - but the striker's attempted return ball is comfortably cleared.
Min 19 | Barça respond by winning a dangerous free-kick on the right, Messi standing over it. The Argentine's delivery is a threatening one, but referee Carlos del Cerro Grande blows his whistle for a defensive free-kick as the cup holders are caught offside. Still not a great deal to choose between the sides in Madrid.
Min 17 | What a chance for Coke there! Vitolo wins it back off Iniesta and skins Dani Alves on the right touchline before pulling back for his captain in the box - but he completely slices it! Where was that finishing the other night in Basel, Liverpool fans cry in unison... Sergio Escudero immediately follows that up with a venomous cross-cum-shot to the near post, which Ter Stegen has to be alive to beat away.
Min 16 | Iniesta with a lovely spin before feeding Neymar, who gets his side another corner - which again comes to zilch. Iniesta winning the joga bonito points from me so far.
Min 13 | It's been a pretty even start at the Calderón. Good pressing from Barcelona wins them a corner off Rami, which comes to nothing. Sevilla go up the other end and earn a corner of their own - but Iborra's foul eventually sees Los Azulgranas awarded a free-kick and the danger is over.
Min 8 | There's the first proper sight of goal, and it falls to Barça! Andrés Iniesta plays it through to 59-goal man Luis Suárez with a lovely dink, but the Uruguayan snatches at it and drags wide. Wonderful pass from Iniesta.
Min 7 | Gameiro has had a great season, and he appears to be in the mood tonight. The Frenchman bursts away on the break down the right and looks to find Vicente Iborra charging down the middle, but Marc-André ter Stegen is out quickly to clear.
Min 5 | Neymar looks to play a one-two with Leo Messi on the corner of the Sevilla box, but it's snuffed out. Sevilla's Kevin Gameiro then almost bundles his way into a shooting position inside the area. Unai Emery appears to be already adopting his Tasmanian-devil-esque touchline prowl.
Kick-off | And they're off! Barcelona looking for Copa del Rey number 28, Sevilla for Copa number six, both aiming to complete a double of some sort.
2 mins to kick-off | Spanish anthem plays, king and queen look on stoically as one half of the stadium whistles...
5 mins to kick-off | Teams are coming out, led by the officials. Lots of turf touching rituals en route to their anthem standing spot.
Barcelona - Ter Stegen, Piqué, Rakitic, Sergio, Alves, Iniesta, Suárez, Messi, Neymar, Mascherano, Alba.
Sevilla - Rico, Mariano, Carriço, Rami, Escudero, Krychowiak, Iborra, Coke, Banega, Vitolo, Gameiro.
Barcelona and Sevilla meet in the Vicente Calderón on Sunday night in the 2016 Copa del Rey final, bringing the curtain down on the domestic season in Spain. Both sides have enjoyed fruitful seasons since after they met in the European Supercup in Tbilisi last August, an extrodrinary match that Barça won 5-4 after extra time. Luis Enrique’s side secured their second consecutive Liga title last weekend while Sevilla won a third consecutive continental crown at the expense of Liverpool four days ago when Unai Emery’s side hoisted the Europa League trophy aloft in Basel.
Remarkably, this will be the first meeting of the sides in the Spanish showpiece final. Barcelona and Sevilla have played 24 times in the Copa del Rey, with 16 victories for the Catalan side, three draws and five triumphs for the Andalusians. Of 12 two-leg knock-out ties, Barça have been successful in eight and Sevilla in four.
Enrique has his full complement available to him and will field his standard big-game line-up in the hunt for a domestic double. Luis Suárez, Leo Messi and Neymar have bagged 130 goals between them this season but Sevilla will be confident of stopping their opponents’ fearsome front line with the tried and tested Emery tactic of defending in blocks and pressing in midfield to cut off the supply line. Kévin Gameiro has been Sevilla’s most prolific striker this season with 29 in all competitions, and nine in his last eight appearances.
Holders Barcelona are Spain’s most successful club in the competition with 27 Copa titles, while Sevilla have five to their name. The sides have met three times previously this season, with a 2-1 result every time, Barça winning the European Supercup and the league encounter at Camp Nou, and Emery bringing his run of 20 games against the Catalans without victory to an end in the Sánchez Pizjuán in October.
