Dani Alves' eight-year stay at Barcelona is to come to an end after both club and player confirmed that he is leaving the Camp Nou.

Thank-you letter to the fans

On Thursday, Alves took to social media to post an open letter of farewell to the Catalan outfit's supporters, declaring: "Thank you for making me feel so loved".

Earlier in the day, Barça sporting director Robert Fernández had announced the Brazilian's departure to the media, saying: "I don't like this decision and I don't want him to leave but it's the player's decision and that needs to be considered."

Barça later paid tribute to Alves in a statement on their website.

Full-back Alves, who is set to join Italian champions Juventus, made 391 appearances for Los Azulgranas, scoring 21 goals.

He also accrued an extensive medal collection that includes six LaLiga titles, four Copas del Rey and three Champions Leagues - and served up no shortage of exquisite moments on the way.
