Del Bosque: "Iker or De Gea? Let's see on June 13"
The Spain coach says David De Gea will play in goal for Spain against Georgia on Tuesday, but won't reveal his first choice keeper for Euro 2016 until June 13 - the day of his team's opening match against Czech Republic.
Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque appeared in front of the media before his team’s friendly against Georgia on Tuesday – his last press conference before the start of Euro 2016.
Goalkeeping choices: "The three keepers are doing well. Iker Casillas played the last friendly against South Korea, tomorrow it’ll probably be David De Gea. But to see who plays in our first game of the Euros versus Czech Republic, we’ll just have to wait and see on June 13."
Czech Republic: "I saw their game against Russia, which they won 2-1. They’re a team who we know perfectly well as we played them a little while ago. They’re well organized and it won’t be easy."
Will the starting 11 against Georgia will be similar to your first 11? "I don’t know because our priority is to get all 20 players some match time so they familiarize themselves. We know how we want to play though and we’re going to try put that into practice tomorrow."
Euros preparation: “We’re satisfied with it, including the final part when the Real and Atlético Madrid players joined up with us. It’s all gone ideally. This group of players is the future of the Spanish football and we’re delighted with them. Those who’re new and have had to come in and incorporate themselves with the squad have done so with ease. It’s been a dream preparation for everyone."
We’ve advanced our ideas and evolved
What’s changed from Del Bosque of 2010? "I’m more responsible perhaps. We’ve advanced our ideas and evolved. But mostly the feeling of responsibility."
Nolito: "We’ve brought him in because of the season he’s had. He’s a specialist on the wing, can score and create goals, and can help cover the left-back position. He’s a great solution for us."
Morata’s fitness: "We’re going to wait and see. We don’t want to take any risks because we want to have both him and Aduriz in peak condition. If he plays against Georgia or not depends on what the medics say."
Security situation in France: “We are just thinking about competing, playing in a great tournament…a fiesta of football. It’s something we’re not worrying too much about…I imagine there are people who are worried more than we are though.”
