Muniain implicated in sexual assault; De Gea affected
According to Eldiario.es a protected witness has implicated Muniain in taking part in the assault and of De Gea of organising the event where it took place. El Confidencial maintains Isco was the other player involved in the assaultSevilla-Leganés: Copa del Rey
According to Spanish news website Eldiario.es a protected witness in a case brought against porn baron Ignacio Allende Fernández, has implicated Athletic Bilbao player Iker Muniain in being involved in a sexual assault, and David De Gea of being involved in organising the encounter where it took place.
The protected witness named the footballers as part of her testimony given during an investigation into porn producer Allende, known as Torbe. He was jailed in April for human trafficking with the aim of sexual exploitation, sexual assault, sexual abuse of minors, the production and distribution of pornographic material featuring under-age girls, extortion, money laundering and tax offences.
According to El Confidencial the other footballer, who was unidentified by the witness in her statement, was Real Madrid player Isco. However investigators believe there is confusion over who this other individual was, with later information provided possibly indicating a different player.
According Spanish daily El Mundo police sources have not yet seen sufficient evidence to prove an offence took place. Asked about the case the sources said: “Where an offence had been committed, they [the players] would have been detained immediately”.
Five star hotel in central Madrid
Eldiario.es states that the victim made a statement on on 3 June 2015 regarding the supposed abuse, in which Muniain allegedly took part, and which, according to the victim’s statement took place in 2012 in a central five star hotel in Madrid.
According to the victim’s version of events, as published by eldiario.es, Manchester United keeper De Gea messaged the witness to arrange for her to meet porn producer Torbe at the hotel. Torbe then took her to the suite loft of the hotel, with the promise that she would earn a significant sum of money, but that she had to do whatever the footballers wanted.
In the suite, where the sexual assault supposedly took place the victim says she met another woman and two footballers, one of whom was Iker Muniain. The other player was allegedly another then Spanish Under-21 international player.
Highly credible witness
The Spanish police investigating the incident said the protected witness’ statement was “highly credible”.
The Spanish police’s report on the witness’ statement states the following:
“Having brought TP3 (Protected Witness 3) to the room with the other girl, Torbe told her that they had to be with the footballers, and that they had to do whatever they wanted and that they [the girls] would earn significant money. When TP3 refused, Torbe took her roughly by the arm, saying they had to do whatever the footballer wanted, having sex with the new girl and her”.
“Both the new girl and TP3 were sexually assaulted by the footballers, given that if they refused they were physically attacked by both, and moreover, when the footballers' sexual desires were satisfied, the footballers threatened them in order to ensure that what had happened in the room would never see the light of day. Neither TP3 or the other girl who was in the room received anything for the physical and sexual assault they suffered, with Torbe taking all the money”.
Protected witness asked De Gea to identify the other footballer
The protected witness who identified Muniain asked De Gea through WhatsApp the identity of the other player who had been in the room. The keeper, according to eldiario.es said it was another player from Athletic Bilbao. However the victim eventually identified the player as a member of another team. According to ElConfidencial this other player was Isco.
The authorities have not yet made any attempt to question the players implicated. Muniain's agent meanwhile said that the player was completely unaware of the claims and that the police and judge involved in the Torbe case had not asked him for any information.
De Gea: "It's all false"
David de Gea held a press conference this afternoon at the Spanish national team base in France, where they are taking part in Euro 2016, to deny all the allegations. "It's all false", he said. He also said he would not be leaving the Spanish squad in the face of the news.
