Just why is Cristiano Ronaldo so damn angry?
The Portuguese star lost his nerve on Wednesday morning by throwing a reporter's mic into a lake, causing many in the media to question what caused the outburst...
After Cristiano Ronaldo’s angry reaction to a Portuguese journalist on Wednesday morning, an incident in which he grabbed the reporter’s microphone and threw it into a lake, much of the international press has been trying to make sense of his erratic behaviour.
"He's missed four of his last five penalties"
Daily Mirror (UK): “Maybe he's annoyed he's now missed four of the last five penalties he's taken. Maybe he's irritated that he hasn't scored a SINGLE ONE of the 36 direct free-kicks he's now taken for Portugal at major tournaments. Maybe he's angry that there is at least one Real Madrid superstar who is having an outstanding European Championships. Or maybe he's just concerned that Portugal could go out of Euro 2016… at the expense of Hungary. Whatever the reason, we can say one thing for certain right now. RONALDO ANGRY!”
Newpaper "selling lies"
L’Equipe (France): “For a few years now there have been tense relations between the Real Madrid player and the newspaper (Correio da Manha), which Ronaldo accuses of ‘selling lies’”.
"Ronaldo can't sleep"
The Sun (UK): “Portugal coach Fernando Santos said after the painful goalless draw against Austria that Ronaldo has not been able to sleep, and he really appeared to crack up today when he was only asked by a reporter near Portugal's team hotel in Lyon if he was fully prepared for the crucial Hungary clash tonight. His long-term rival Lionel Messi scored a sensational free-kick last night to become Argentina's record scorer, but the same kind of plaudits cannot be given to Ronaldo for this tournament, far from it in fact.”
