According to the Sunday edition of The Mirror, Hugo Lloris is a new target for Real Madrid and a goalkeeper who they believe could significantly strengthen their goalkeeping options by posing competition to current Los Blancos number one Keylor Navas. The European Champions have been planning to add another top-class stopper to their ranks for some time, despite the cracking form of the Costa Rican over the past 12 months.

Negotiations would have to wait till after Euros

Lloris, though, will have his mind firmly set on the task at hand, as France take on Iceland in the Euro 2016 quarter finals on Sunday with a place in the last four against Germany at stake. And until the hosts end their participation in the tournament, whenever that may be, any negotiations over the French goalkeeper’s future will have to wait.

Despite having his best season at Tottenham during the last campaign – his team finishing third in the Premier League and qualifying automatically for the Champions League, Spurs would be willing to talk if his asking price of €35 million was reached, reports the British newspaper.

Vital component to Spurs side

Lloris, who’s been linked with Real on a number of occasions over the past few years, would certainly see the chance of linking up with compatriot Zinedine Zidane in the Spanish capital with some interest. However, Pochettino – his current coach – will surely be pressuring Spurs president Daniel Levy to improve the keeper’s contract and do everything they can to retain the Frenchman, with Lloris considered a vital component to the team’s success by the Argentine manager.
