Barcelona's Gerard Piqué says Los Azulgranas' domestic trophy success in recent seasons has proved they are currently well ahead of their LaLiga rivals.

Consecutive doubles

Barça have won the Spanish title and the Copa del Rey in each of the last two campaigns, also adding the 2015 Champions League to the first of those doubles.

Barça have won the Spanish league and cup in both of the last two seasons.

"We're the best team in the country by far"

And Piqué told reporters this week that the club's achievements on the home front over the past couple of years make them "the team to beat" in Spain this term.

"We've shown we're the best team in the country by far," the 29-year-old defender declared.

Having lifted the Spanish Super Cup earlier in August after a 5-0 aggregate victory over Sevilla, Barça began their bid for a third straight LaLiga triumph with a 6-2 thumping of Real Betis at the weekend.
