Real Madrid star Gareth Bale has said he “couldn't care less” and is “not fussed” about losing his label as the world’s most expensive footballer to Paul Pogba.

Manchester United signed French midfielder Pogba from Juventus for €105m last month to break the world record previously held by Bale (his €100m transfer from Tottenham to Madrid back in 2013).

Bale was speaking to the media before Wales begin their World Cup 2018 qualifying campaign against Moldova on Monday in Cardiff – the location of this season’s Champions League final.

Cardiff final "would be amazing"

The Real Madrid forward will not only be aiming to help his club win their 12th European Cup in his hometown, but also become the first Welshman to become a three-time winner of the trophy (compatriots Ian Rush and Joey Jones with Liverpool, as well as Ryan Giggs with Man United were all two-time victors in the competition).

"It would be amazing to get there," said Bale. "I haven't been asked [about Cardiff] yet but the players have had experience of Wales and the weather from the Super Cup [when Real Madrid beat Sevilla at the Cardiff City stadium in 2014]. I am sure if we get closer they will be asking."
