Spain drop out of top ten in latest world rankings

Spain will fall out of the top 10 in the latest FIFA World Rankings when they are officially released on Thursday 15 September, despite their perfect start under new coach Julen Lopetegui.
La Roja cruised to a friendly win over Belgium earlier this month before thumping Liechtenstein 8-0 in León. However the Spanish selección drop two places to 11th in this month’s rankings.

Argentina top, Brazil jump five places
Argentina retain the number one spot while Belgium – knocked out by Wales in the quarter finals of Euro 2016 – stay second. The Welsh themselves jump back into the top 10 after their heroics in France and confident start to the World Cup 2018 European qualifiers.

Germany, meanwhile, overtake Colombia in third, as James Rodriguez and co drop to joint fourth with Neymar’s Brazil (who jump five places).
Uruguay (9th), France (8th), Chile (6th) and European Champion’s Portugal (7th) make up the rest of the top 10 teams as ranked by FIFA.
