In the aftermath of Real Madrid’s second draw in a row against Las Palmas - making their record-chasing run of 16 straight wins seem like a distant memory – he’s a round-up of the latest news in the Madrid camp.
After going from record-beaters to draw specialists in the space of 3 days, there are now reports that Los Blancos are looking to revert back to the Galáctico system, and see Borussia Dortmund’s Aubameyang as the perfect answer. After scoring four times in 10 days, the in-form Gabonese striker told AS “I’m not going to talk about that”, when asked about a possible move to the Spanish capital. Time will tell...
Isco hits a century
The man from Málaga made his 100th appearance for Real on Saturday evening against Las Palmas. Despite starting from the bench for a large part of the season, the Spain international now only stands behind fellow Malagueños Fernando Hierro and Juanito on the list of appearances for Real Madrid.
Cristiano’s worst start to a season in a white shirt
After looking none too pleased about being hauled off in the 72nd minute against Las Palmas, the Portuguese striker has also got off to his slowest start since joining Madrid in 2009. Ronaldo has only managed one goal so far this campaign, although he has only recently returned from a lengthy summer lay-off after a knee injury picked up in the final of Euro 2016.
First-half shooters and a low-point Liga
Los Blancos fired off 17 shots on goal in the first half of last night’s draw, making them the side with the highest number of attempts in a half this LaLiga season. Despite being held in the Canary Islands, Zidane’s side still top the table, albeit with the lowest points tally since 2006. Ten years ago it was Barça sitting pretty on the top of the table, with the same number of points (14).
