Real Madrid Castilla win thanks to Odegaard and Enzo Zidane
Real Madrid's second side, Castilla, beat Socuéllamos 3-0 with goals from Odegaard and Zidane. Nikos got his first as a Real Madrid player.
Solari had told Real Madrid Castilla to buck up their ideas and they reacted, beating Socuéllamos 3-0, in their first convincing win of the season, which saw them jump up the table.
And several players' performances took of some of the individual pressure they were feeling. Odegaard scored his first of the season (just his thrid in 50 games for Castilla), Enzo Zidane converted a Panenka penalty and Greek player Niko got his first goal in a Real Madrid shirt.
Real Madrid Castilla dominated
Castilla ended up dominating Socuéllamos, a side who had caused serious problems for the hosts in their last two visits to Valdebebas, but who this afternoon only managed to cope for 35 minutes before they shot themselves in the foot.
Calahorro held Campuzano in the box, a clear penalty the ref didn't miss, and which was converted by Enzo Zidane to make it 1-0. A breath of fresh air for the whites.
Solari rings the changes at half-time
Solaria then shook things up on his chalkboard, making a double change at half-time to bring on Abner (for Tejero) and Nikos (for the notable Campuzano), and within a minute the two came close to conjuring up a goal.
Castilla enjoying themselves
Real Madrid Castilla were beginning to enjoy themselves, Odegaard was playing fluidly and Achraf was running dangerously at the opposition. And it was the latter who gifted Nikos his first goal for Castilla, in the 53rd minute. By this time Solari's side were running riot and a double nutmeg from Achraf led to the third, from Odegaard, a left foot effort just inside the post.
Three goals that could have been more for Castilla, who reacted after their last few sluggish outings. Nikos nearly got his second with a chip that just went over. Socuéllamos tried their best to hurt Castilla but Lienhart wasted their best opportunity.
Real Madrid Castilla back to winning ways
All in all a comfortable afternoon for Real Madrid Castilla who got exactly the performance and result Solari had demanded of them as they looked to get back to winning ways.
