The Spanish football federation disciplinary committee have confirmed the punishment that will be administered to Valencia CF after Saturday's incident when a bottle was launched at Barcelona players as they celebrated their 2-3 win at Mestalla. The bottle appeared to impact on certain Barça players as they celebrated Leo Messi's injury time winning goal.

The bottle throwing incident has secured Valencia a fine of 1.500 euro along with a warning of having to play further games behind closed doors if similar incidents occur in future matches. The committee members did state that Valencia CF behaved in an exemplary manner in dealing with the aftermath of the incident in identifying the perpetrator. They also stated that there was a level of "over-exaggeration on behalf of the FC Barcelona players".
The disciplinary committee didn't pass any judgement on whether they felt that Neymar was guilty of causing any provocation but did insinuate this in their direct ruling: "Without justifying the action of a few troublemakers, it must be observed that certain gestures and actions by members of the FC Barcelona team upon celebrating their winning goal are blameworthy. It also must be noted that reaction of certain members of the aforementioned football club simulated injury without having the launched object actually impact on their person. None of these actions should take place at a sporting event which should always look to portray a harmonious dynamic between players and supporters".
