Real rated one by one: Keylor poor, fine goals by Bale, Kovacic
AS takes a look at the displays of each of Real Madrid's players in their 3-3 Champions League draw at Legia Warsaw on Wednesday.
Keylor struggling to reproduce 2015/16 displays
Keylor Navas: Badly at fault for Legia Warsaw's second goal. Has conceded six in three Champions League games this season and still hasn't returned to the form he showed last term.
Dani Carvajal: Didn't have a lot to do defensively, but when he did he struggled. Didn't pose much of a threat in attack, flighting in the odd cross and not much more.
Raphael Varane: Too passive on Legia's first goal. Helped Real bring the ball out and could have scored with a first-half header.
Nacho Fernández: Had to cover Fabio Coentrao's back several times. Too many goals conceded given the modest degree of Legia's offensive talent...
Coentrao short of sharpness on return to line-up
Fabio Coentrao: Lacks match fitness. Sluggish in attack and defence in his first start of the season, and gave away several dangerous and unnecessary fouls. Legia had penalty appeals waved away in the 18th minute after a challenge by the full-back.
Toni Kroos: Carried much of the playmaking responsibility, but barely appeared close to the box to test Legia's keeper with his good shot. Distributed well (except for some long balls that went astray), decent enough in his work breaking up the play.
Mateo Kovacic: Ensured that Real avoided defeat with a fine equaliser. At times he lacked support in a midfield in which he seemed isolated.
Gareth Bale: Opened the scoring with a powerful left-footed strike from outside of the area. Showed good movement, popping up across the attack and setting up Benzema's goal.
Morata struggled with so many forwards on the pitch
Álvaro Morata: Not helped by the number of forwards fielded by Zinedine Zidane, which led him to drop too far from the area. Committed in pressing Legia, but lacked bite in attack.
Karim Benzema: Started slowly but warmed up, particularly in the final period of the first half. Read the game well, drifting away from the box to support Kovacic and Kroos. Scored Real's second with a precise finish into the corner. Replaced by Vázquez in the 64th minute.
Not Cristiano's evening in front of goal
Cristiano Ronaldo: Not at his clinical best. Had a number of chances and it wasn't his day. Tried his luck with his head, left foot, right foot, from free-kicks... To no avail.
Substitutes:
Lucas Vázquez: Could have won it for Madrid with the final kick of the game, but saw his shot bounce back off the crossbar.
Marco Asensio: Didn't have much chance to shine, but sought to offer himself and participate in the quarter of an hour Zidane gave him.
Mariano Díaz: Involved for the final minutes and had no clear chances to score.
