Sports marketing consultant Hookit carried out a study on the financial value of the "Cristiano Ronaldo" brand which has extended into the world of male grooming, video-games, watches, restaurants, hotel chains and carries a marketing impact valued at approximately 175 million dollars. His latest deal with Nike alone is worth a reported 30 million dollars.

World's Highest-Paid Athlete

The Real Madrid no. 7 is the best paid global sportsperson according to famed business magazine Forbes. The Portuguese striker has earned 88 million dollars in the current calendar year with 32 million dollars a direct result of endorsements. The 31 year old player occupied tenth position in the corresponding Forbes 2015 listing behind the likes of Lionel Messi, LeBron James or Roger Federer.

His economic impact transcends the sporting world with Ronaldo the fourth highest earning celebrity in the world trailing only to singer Taylor Swift, pop group One Direction, author James Patterson and Dr. McGraw.

Social media phenomenon

Cristiano Ronaldo's reach and impact on social media is a major enticement for any would be advertiser. His profile in this area sees the striker on a par with global profiles such as Barack Obama, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber or Rihanna. Cristiano Ronaldo has 47.9 million Twitter followers (the 13th highest in terms of ranking) and has 81 following his Instagram account.

Cristiano's "tour de force" on the social media platforms is undoubtedly Facebook, with his account being followed by 117 million users, some 25 million more than the Real Madrid Facebook account.
