Piqué bemoans Barça attitude and says Madrid "best in the league"

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique critcised his side’s attitude in the 1-1 draw to Real Sociedad on Sunday and admitted he was more concerned over the way Barça are playing than the six point lead that Real Madrid now have at the top of LaLiga ahead of next weekend’s El Clásico.

The Catalan team’s failure to win in Anoeta means it has now been nine years since Barça have come away victorious there, with coach Luis Enrique also admitting that it’s the first time his side have been “outlclassed” since he became manager of the club.

"Our attitude is worrying"

“Yes, [La Real were superior] through play, but especially through attitude,” said Pique after the game. “In the first half we weren’t there. In the second half we improved but playing like that it’ll be difficult to win LaLiga.

“It’s sometimes possible to win a game losing in style of play, but [our attitude] is more worrying,” he continued. “The leaders [Real Madrid] have two points more but that’s what worries me the least right now.”

"Real Madrid the best team in LaLiga"

As well as praising Real Sociedad for a “great match”, Pique also commended next Saturday’s opponents Real Madrid and said they deserve to be top of the league.

“It’s a really important game and I know our fans will get behind us,” Pique said when asked about El Clásico. “We are playing against a great team, the best in the League. That’s why they are where they are right now.”
