Overcoming the odds

Ryan Giggs is very clear about who is the best player he has had the pleasure of playing alongside during the 24 years he spent with Manchester United. Giggs has plenty of former team mates to choose from - Paul Scholes, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke but says Cristiano Ronaldo. "People forget that he had a difficult start but he always did, and still does, everything he can to be the best. He's an unbelievable athlete and player - the best I've played with", Giggs told the Mirror.

"He was really good to have around the dressing room – until you needed the mirror... First, it was Becks, who sat there, and when Cristiano came, he replaced Becks next to the mirror. So you could forget it if you wanted to use the mirror – you’d have to wait!", he laughed.
