Lionel Messi's father, Jorge, has moved to play down talk of his son departing Barcelona, according to Spanish radio station Cadena SER.
Fears Messi could see out Barcelona deal
On Wednesday, he was reported by the programme 'El Larguero' to have said "there is no danger" of Messi Jr leaving Barça, despite being yet to sign a new deal.
The striker's contract renewal is the chief current concern in the Ciudad Condal, with fears he could run down his present agreement, which expires in 2018.
Contract talks said to be on course
However, Cadena SER said talks between Barça chiefs and Jorge Messi - who is the player's agent - are ongoing and are on course.
Although Messi Sr is not currently in Spain, negotiations are understood to be being held via telephone.
