Chapecoense air disaster survivor asks Internet for help to pay bills

Air stewardess Ximena Suarez Otterburg has set up a crowdfunding page with a goal of reaching $100,000 in donations, after revealing she's suffering from "psychological and physical problems" due to the crash.

A survivor of the Chapecoense air disaster – air stewardess Ximena Suarez Otterburg – is asking for financial help on the internet in order to pay the bills for her treatment and support her family. Her goal is to reach $100,000 through a crowd funding website.

Ximena – who was working on LaMia Flight 2933 when it crashed in Colombia, killing 71 of the 77 people on board including 22 players from the Brazilian Chapecoense football squad – explains on the donation page that she is unable to return to her job working as a cabin crew member due to "physical and psychological problems".

She also asks for aid in paying for her university studies and to support her two children, aged two and six. At the time of writing, $175 has been donated since the page was set up on Sunday, January 22nd 2017.

"May God bless me”

"I am Ximena Suarez Otterburg, survivor of the LAMIA accident in Colombia. I am 28 years old,” she writes. “I was born in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, I have two children, 6 and 2-years old, to whom I support.

“Most of my life I’ve worked as a cabin crew member, apart from studying engineering at the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University,” she continues. “The reason why I ask for help is because, as a result of this, I will not be able to work and continue my normal life, since I have psychological and physical problems.

“I would greatly appreciate your collaboration. May God bless me.”
