Montoya takes No.14 shirt
Sevilla presented new signing Walter Montoya at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán this morning. Accompanied by president José Castro and Director of Sport Monchi, the Argentine winger posed with his new No.14 shirt, which he inherits from Hiroshi Kiyotake, who has been sold to Cerezo Osaka.
Transfer: "I'm very happy and grateful to Sevilla for giving me this opportunity. This was the best option for me - I like the city and it's an important step forward in my career. I had it very clear about what I wanted and I accepted Sevilla's offer even though I didn't know at the time whether I would be able to be registered or not before June".
Position: "I'm a right winger, I feel comfortable playing out on the wing and I love playing in attack".
Objectives: "To settle in with the squad as quickly as possible and fight to win a place in the team. I always set myself short-term objectives and getting to know my new team mates is the first one".
Making the leap to European football: "Argentinean football is physical too. Maybe it'll take a while for me to get used to the pass and move style but opponents don't leave much spaces in the Argentinean game either. I'll wait and see wht the coach wants from me and how he wants me to play".
Sevilla: "They have a great squad and a great coach. I want to learn from all of them, every day, because I am still only 23 and I have a lot to learn".
Sampaoli: "The fact that he's Argentinean will help me a little - it's a help but doesn't mean that I am guaranteed a place. I am going to work hard and make sacrifices to increase my chances of playing".
