Celta Vigo landed a massive scalp when they knocked out Real Madrid at home in their last Copa del Rey clash and Alavés are through to their first Copa semi-final having beaten Alcorcon 2-0 in the first leg. They drew with their opponents in the second leg with the bulk of the work done in the first 90.
Both Eduardo Berizzo and Mauricio Pellegrino have made changes to the sides that played in LaLiga last weekend and it could take some time in this one to figure out just what tactics either team intend to employ, with a second leg just six days away next Wednesday night. You can follow ouyr live minute-by-minute-coverage here for tactical chat and whatnot.
Berizzo has dropped John Guidetti after an excellent performance against Real Madrid at Balaidos in the last Copa game Celta played. He also scored against Leganes off the bench at the weekend in LaLiga. Aspas returns to the line-up having been rested in that game and there are a number of changes at the back too with Berizzo resting some of his starters with this game in mind. he has changed entirely his front four from the LaLiga trip too with Wass, Bongonda, Aspas and Hernandez replacing Rossi, Sisto, Lemos and Sene.
Celta Vigo starting XI: Sergio, Hugo Mallo, Cabral, Roncaglia, Jonny, Marcelo Diaz, Radoja, Pablo Hernandez, Wass, Bongonda, Aspas
Pellegrino has made zero changes to the side that played Atletico Madrid on Saturday and it is pretty much their ideal XI throughout the season. theo Hernandez and Kike Femenia will be expected to provide pace and width down the wings while Llorente holds down the fort. Celta Vigo like to hold possession so we can expect them to be susceptible on the counter and Pellegrino will surely try to use this to his advantage.
Alaves starting XI: Pacheco, Femenia, Laguardia, Feddal, Theo, Llorente, Camarasa, Manu Garcia, Ibai Gomez, Toquero, Deyverson
