Rayo Vallecano have announced the dismissal of Ruben Baraja as head coach of the Spanish second division side following Sunday's 2-1 home loss to Mirandés.
With just 14 games remaining of the LaLiga 1/2/3 season, Baraja leaves the club in 16th place and hovering just one point above the relegation places.
Three wins from 13 games
"The club must thank [Baraja] for his professionalism and we wish him the best in the future," said Rayo Vallecano in an official statement.
The Valladolid-born coach and ex-Valencia player only arrived at the Rayo top job back in November 2016, replacing Jose Ramon Sandoval who was sacked after defeat against UCAM Murcia. In his 13 games as franjirrojo coach, Baraja lost six, drew four and won just three matches.
