José Luis Pérez Caminero spoke about ongoing speculation that first team coach Diego Simeone is set to depart the club come the end of the season.
He discussed the matter with German football magazine Kicker and was adamant that the Argentinean coach would be with the club next season. "Diego Simeone has a contract until 2018 with Atletico, he and his staff have assured us that they are happy to stay with us" he said.
"Simeone is 100 per cent focused on Atletico, we have nothing to fear", he added
El Cholo is the longest serving coach in Spain's top flight arriving at the club in December 2011. In his time on the Calderon bench he's overseen two Champions League finals, secured one LaLiga title, one UEFA Suer Cup, one Copa del Rey trophy and a Spanish Super Cup win. Speculation has been rife since his post Champions League final comments in Milan after losing to Real Madrid on penalties when he stated he would reflect on his future at the club before eventually deciding to remain in his post.
