The Real Madrid striker posed with an endangered species of iguana during his holiday to Martinica and shared the image on social media.

Lizard protection in the Caribbean

Karim Benzema seems to have got himself into another spot of trouble. This time, he was not in a car when it happened, and it involved an animal.

An endangered iguana was the animal in question and it was when the Frenchman was holidaying on the island of Martinique, in the Caribbean. The trouble arose when the player posted a picture of himself posing with the creature, one that is protected, in the Parque Natural de Martinica.

Offside in the eyes of the animal law

According to La Provence, a formal complaint has been made by the authorities at the park which claims Benzema violated a law that prohibits the capture and deliberate disrupting of a delicate species. The manager of the park, Louis Boutrin, was quoted as saying: "Benzema will always be welcome in Martinique but he must be careful, footballers are not above the law."

It is expected that the Madrid man will be handed a fine.

This is not the first time that Benzema has been in trouble following the sextape case, various traffic offences, as well as some unrest in the national camp.
