Sané apologises after goal costs bettor 34,200 euros in winnings

Manchester City's Leroy Sané grabbed the fifth in Tuesday's Champions League thriller with Monaco - a goal that ruined one poor punter's bet.

Update:

Manchester City and Monaco served up one of the great Champions League matches on Tuesday as Pep Guardiola's men beat the Ligue 1 side 5-3.

However, one German bettor was left ruing Leroy Sané's late fifth for City - because the 21-year-old's goal deprived him of over 30,000 euros in winnings.

The individual had placed an accumulator on the exact results of City-Monaco and the night's other last-16 first leg, which saw Atlético Madrid visit Bayer Leverkusen.

The two-euro wager - which backed the 'Citizens' to win 4-3 and Atlético to defeat Leverkusen 4-2 - would have brought a return of 34,200 euros had it prospered.

Atleti duly obliged by triumphing in Germany by the predicted scoreline, but Sané's 82nd-minute strike at the Etihad Stadium scuppered the bet.

And, having got wind of the punter's disappointment, he took to social media to apologise, writing: "I read about it in the newspapers ... sorry for that poor guy".
