Keylor Navas avoids straight red card

In the 21st minute of the Real Madrid - Real Betis match, Keylor Navas, as the last man, brought down Brasanac who had been put through by a Sanabria assist.

Keylor Navas was lucky to stay on the pitch at the Bernabéu during the Real Madrid - Real Betis LaLiga match on Sunday evening (Matchday 27 of the season) after he pulled down Real Betis player Darko Brasanac on the edge of the area in the 21st minute of the match at the Bernabéu. Match official Mateu Lahoz ignored the foul, waving play on, and not even giving a free-kick to the Andalusian side.

Football Soccer - Real Madrid v Real Betis - Spanish La Liga Santander - Santiago Bernabéu stadium, Madrid, Spain, 12/03/17 Real Madrid's goalkeeper Keylor Navas (C) reacts after conceding a goal.

The Serbian midfielder was clean through after a fine assist from Sanabria and was one on one with the Real Madrid goalkeeper.

Betis score

The Costa Rican stopper might have been extremely fortunate to escape a straight red card, but he was possibly regretting having stayed on the pitch just moments later. With a cruel sense of poetic justice, the keeper somehow contrived to push a Sanabria shot he'd actually manage to initially stop into his own net to give Betis the lead. With his head in his hands, Navas was roundly whistled by the Bernabéu fans.

The goal was initially given to Betis striker Sanabria, but was later correctly given to Navas as an own goal.
