Atlético Madrid have not lost sight of Alexis Sanchez as they keep a vigilant eye on the happenings between Arsenal Football Club and the Chilean striker. If FIFA do happen to cancel their transfer ban for the coming summer, which is something the club are increasingly optimistic about, Alexis Sanchez has himself place very high up Simeone's list of potential incoming players.

The 28-year-old has a contract until 2018 but the contract renewal negotiations between player and club have been put on hold. It has been reported in England that Sanchez is set to leave the club in the summer and Arsenal might have no choice other than to sell him or fear losing him for nothing the year after.

Sanchez said recently, "I hope to remain in London and to finish my contract there." He also went on to say that he was keen to play on a winning football team, which might have been a hint as to his ambitions and perhaps a lack thereof, of Arsenal's.

Simeone needs immediate impact

It seems Diego Simeone will see out his contract at Atletico, which runs for one more year, before leaving for another team, most likely Inter Milan. Given the fact that the Argentine has one more year to win trophies, Sanchez fits the bill for success now rather than building for the future. He is 28, has experience in LaLiga, works impressively hard and can add goals and dynamism to Atletico's attack immediately and also has extensive experience in Europe.

There are, however, a number of hurdles Atlético might not be able to clear. It is believed that the bidding for Sanchez will start at around €58 million, which could be problematic for Atlético. They will also face stiff competition for his services against the likes of PSG, Juventus, Bayern and Chelsea, who will be able to stump up more cash than Atlético and immediately puts them at a disadvantage, and worse still, a disadvantage that their opponents will be all too aware of if an auction for the player starts.
