Neymar was sent off against Málaga, in Barcelona's 2-0 defeat, having picked up two yellow cards. The Brazilian striker was booked in the first half of the match when he cheekily stopped Málaga taking a free-kick by tying his laces right next to the ball. Referee Gil Manzano wasn't buying Neymar's footwear related excuses though and booked him.
Neymar picks up second yellow
And the laces incident came back to haunt Neymar, when he forcefully challenged Llorente in the 65th minute. Gil Manzano decided it was worth a yellow and gave Neymar his marching orders.
Neymar applauds officials sarcastically
As Neymar left the pitch he sarcastically applauded the fourth official. And that could be a major problem for the player. Gil Manzano included Neymar's actions in his report: "In the 65th minute player (number 11) Da Silva Santos J, Neymar was sent off for the following reason: second yellow", adding "After being sent off and when he was heading towards the tunnel to the dressing rooms, he applauded the fourth official".
Neymar will be suspended for one game for the two yellow cards. But he will also likely face a further two to three game ban under article 117 of the disciplinary code, for contempt of the officials. Barcelona play Real Sociedad next weekend, before the Clásico on Sunday 23 April, meaning Neymar is almost certain to miss the match against Real Madrid
