Borussia Dortmund, general director Hans-Joachim Watzke affirmed today that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would only entertain the idea of joining two clubs - Real Madrid or FC Barcelona.
Dortmund official rules out Aubameyang-Bayern switch
"I think he will stay with us", Watze explained on Sport1's Doppelpass programme. "But if Real Madrid or Barcelona come along with an offer, maybe he'll think about it. The rest of the clubs who are interested in him are not really an alternative for him. And certainly not Bayern because we wouldn't allow him join them".
Aubameyang is under contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2020. But the 27-year-old has attracted interest from many of Europe's top clubs - including Real Madrid - a possibility which the player himself ruled out during the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
He finished last seasons as the Bundesliga's second top scorer on 25 goals, just behind Bayern's Robert Lewandowski, who hit 30. This season, Aubameyang is already on 25 goals with six games to play.
Watzke also praised Bayern Munich for their impressive 4-1 win over Dortmund on Saturday and feels that Carlo Ancelotti's are the favourites to progress to the Champion League semi-finals. "I'm curious to see how Real Madrid play when they come here on Wednesday. Bayern, for me, are the big favourites in the Champions League".
