Out of all of the team's in LaLiga, Atlético de Madrid have the best success rate from shots taken outside of the penalty area. Out of the 59 league goals they have scored so far, 13 of them have been shots from distance, almost a quarter of the total. The most recent long-range goal came at the weekend when Yannick Carrasco blasted Atleti ahead against Osasuna.
Simeone's Atlético, long-range shooters
The Rojiblancos are regularly up for having a crack on goal from distance. And after them come Las Palmas and Barcelona with 10 goals scored from outside the area - 19% of the islanders goals have come from long range shots, 11% for the Blaugranas.
Against Osasuna, Carrasco notched his third 20 yard+ effort and he is just behind Griezmann who has found the target five times from way out. Atleti's other hot shots are Correa, Koke, Saúl and Gameiro.
Diego Pablo Simeone has been encouraged his players to have a pop on goal, however far out they might be. Every strike is another opportunity to score - either directly or via a deflection. One of the best examples of the strategy was Carrasco's wonderful volleyed finish against Celta de Vigo at the Calderón in Week 22.
