New names continue to emerge as we wait to see who will succeed Luis Enrique as the manager of Barcelona. The latest is Laurent Blanc.
Luis Enrique to leave Barcelona
Luis Enrique announced in March that this season will be his last at Camp Nou, stating that he needed a rest from the rigours of top-level football.
Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde, and Juan Carlos Unzué, Luis Enrique’s second-in-command, have been the two most frequently-mentioned candidates to take up the post next season.
Laurent Blanc in the frame
Catalunya Ràdio revealed that Laurent Blanc is also very much in the frame. According to that radio station, representatives from the two parties made contact a few days ago, but no more details were revealed.
Rumours to this effect had been circulating in France, and have now surfaced in Catalonia too.
The Frenchman had a spell at Barça in the 1996-97 season, and has since managed Bordeaux and PSG in Ligue 1.
