The Costa Rican ‘keeper played well on the few occasions that Los Rojiblancos threatened the Madrid goal. He denied Kevin Gameiro with a smart stop in the first half, with the French forward bearing down on goal.

As well as placing Real Madrid in a superb position to progress to the final, the match also gave ammunition to Keylor Navas-favouring statisticians.

Navas gains record at Bernabéu

Navas has never lost a Champions League match at the Bernabéu. Of the 11 matches he has played, Madrid have won 10, and drawn one.

The former-Levante player made his debut in a 4-0 victory over Ludogorets in December 2014, when he was still in Casillas’ shadow. The only draw in the subsequent ten undefeated matches came against Borussia Dortmund the following season.
