A clash with one of Barcelona's top playing stars could undermine the potential decision over who succeeds Luis Enrique as the new manager. According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Neymar Jr and Juan Carlos Unzué, current number two in the dugout, had a heated discussion last Thursday in front of the rest of the squad during training.
Neymar's non-footballing activities questioned
The Barcelona-based daily states that the assistant manager went to the Brazilian with some points to make but the player didn't take them on board willingly. As the tone of the conversation increased recriminating comments were made about Neymar's off-pitch activities, with Unzué suggesting that more focus was put on his playing career. This didn't go down well and the forward apparently responded angrily. Although neither of the two men involved, or those that represent them, have confirmed the story, Mundo Deportivo make the point that neither have denied it.
Unzué preferred Barça choice for Neymar
This incident comes just after the Brazilian player had been reported as saying that he would prefer Unzué to take over after Luis Enrique rather than breaking the continuity with a completely new manager.
