Lautaro Martínez gained an unwanted record on Saturday morning, as he became the first player at the U20 World Cup to receive a red card as a result of a decision by a video referee.
Martínez becomes first VAR victim
The talented Argentina U20 striker, who plays his club football for Racing Club, received a red card for an elbow on England defender Tomori.
The referee, Mohammed Abdulla Hassan, did not initially see the contact. Yet once it was brought to his attention by the video official, he gave Martínez his marching orders.

England beat Argentina
Despite early pressure from the Albiceleste, England won the match 3-0 in Korea, courtesy of goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton), Adam Armstrong (Newcastle United), and Dominic Solanke (Chelsea).
FIFA are using the tournament to trial the 'Video Assisted Refereeing', as they did in the World Club Championship competition in Japan in December 2016, where it did not work particularly smoothly.
