Juanito memorabilia and mementos

There are some fascinating objects on display such as the impecable Torre de Hércules atop the Teresa Herrera trophy, which Juanito won three times with Real Madrid from 1978-80; other summer tournament trophies on display include the Colombino, the Ciudad de Barcelona, the Ciudad de Palma… Also present is the UEFA Cup which Madrid won in 1986 against Cologne and one of the five League trophies he won during his time at the Bernabéu. Other interesting items include posters from the time such as the one advertising Real Madrid's UEFA Cup meeting with Borussia Mönchegladbach on their way to that final against Cologne, when the team staged a famous comeback, overturning a 5-1 result from the first leg; and of course, that iconic image of Juanito, unable to contain his joy, leaping into the air as he made his way off the field to be replaced by Martín Vázquez in that match.

Juanito's son still has Phil Neal's Liverpool shirt from the 1981 final

Other exhibits are associated not with Madrid's triumphs but games they lost. “My dad exchanged shirts with Phil Neal in the 1981 European Cup final against Liverpool which we lost 1-0. I've been offered 6,000 euros for it... but it's not for sale. I could never part with it".

Roberto also told us about how his father spoke to Real Madrid about signing Mágico González, Cádiz's star player and one of the greatest players to have graced La Liga.

There is also a fantastic collection of photographs - players such as Miguel Ángel, Sol, Del Bosque, Santillana. “His best friends? He was close to Gordillo and Camacho”, Roberto tells us. “My father adored Real Madrid and Málaga”. Today, his Real Madrid could well be crowned league champions in his home town, Málaga.
