Piqué: "There's no need for anyone from Madrid to apologise to me"

The Barcelona defender says he understands what happened during Real Madrid title celebrations: "It's normal, they were all happy at winning the league".

Gerard Piqué said he understands what happened during Real Madrid's title celebrations when he was the butt of one of the team's victory chants in Cibeles. With cetain people chanting: "Piqué, cabron, saluda al campeón". (Pique you bastard, bow down before the champions).

The Barça player took it all with a pinch of salt, telling reporters on his return from a short trip to Italy: “No, I’m not offended at all. No one from Madrid has to apologise to me. I’ve already spoken to [Dani]. It’s normal, they were happy and that’s that, they had to celebrate”.

It's worth recalling that Samuel Eto'o, a former Madrid player, formally apologised and was subsequently fined 12,000 euros by the RFEF's Competitions Committee in May 2005 for grabbing the mic and signing the same chant aimed at his old club during Barcelona's title celebrations at Camp Nou, below is how it was reported in the 25th May 2005 edition of AS.

AS reported on 25th May 2005 that Samuel Eto'o had been fined 12,000 for "incitement to violence".
