Eight Real Madrid players, three from Atlético and Barcelona striker Leo Messi are all featured in the ideal Champions League squad from the 2016-17 campaign.
A group of Uefa technical observers put together the squad based on performances throughout this season’s tournament, which Real Madrid won by defeating Juventus 4-1 in Cardiff last Saturday.
Real Madrid make up eight of Uefa ideal squad
The champions are represented by eight players - Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Casemiro, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Isco and Cristiano Ronaldo, who finished as the tournament's top scorer with 12 after hitting 10 in the knock-out stages.
Three Atlético Madrid players made the cut, keeper Jan Oblak, central defender Diego Godín and striker Antoine Griezmann, while Leo Messi is Barcelona’s sole representative.
Juve's Buffon between the sticks
Losing finalists Juventus have three players in the squad: Gianluigi Buffon, Leonardo Bonucci and Miralem Pjanic.
