The agent of the young goalkeeper confirmed that conversations would begin upon the end of his involvement in the U21 Euro Championships.

Italian U21 goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, is to return to discussions with his current club AC Milan with the objective of extending his contract at the Serie A club.

Social media creates Donnarumma confusion

The player's agent, Mino Raiola, has said that the conversations will begin again after the completion of Italy's involvement in the Uefa European U21 championships in Poland. This follows much speculation about the future of Donnarumma after he had stated earlier in the month that he would not be renewing with Milan fueling anger in the Rossineri fanbase. Rumours were rife that he was on his way to LaLiga champions, Real Madrid.

It seemed that social media would allow individuals to speak directly and clearly to the masses but in this case more confusion has been caused. With questions being raised about the relationship between player and agent, Donnarumma tweeted "#Donnarumma #Raiola yesterday, today and tomorrow!!"

The reaction wasn't positive and later he took to Instagram to apologise: "Today my tweet sparked real uproar, which I did not want to create, for this I apologise".

"I want to reiterate my absolute love for Milan and its fans. Now my mind is completely on the national team, with whom I hope to give a gift to all the supporters. My promise is that, as soon as the Euros are finished, I will meet with the club, along with my family and my agent, to discuss my renewal."

Shortly after that, Donnarumma diabled his account and tweeted that it had been hacked.

Raiola looks to add clarity

That was followed by a post from Raiola trying to clarify the situation:

"Tweets between Gigi and me are friendly. After the Euros we'll meet with Milan. The national team is what is important now."

Italy face Spain in the semi-finals of the U21 championships on Tuesday evening and if they progress will play either England or Germany in the final on Friday 30 June. Let's see what happens after that.
