Jesús Vallejo was presented as a Real Madrid player at the Bernabéu on Friday morning. The player joined from Real Zaragoza in 2015, signing a six-year contract, but loans at Zaragoza and Eintracht Frankfurt mean that he has not yet formed part of the first-team squad at Madrid.
Vallejo: 'I hope to be at Madrid for many years'
Pérez opened the presentation, before the player was given the opportunity to say a few words. Vallejo, visibly emotional, thanked the president and the club for their confidence in him:
“Thank you to the president and the club, who showed confidence in me when they signed me two years ago. Since then, I have wanted to return that confidence. I still have a long path ahead of me. With humility, work, strength, and sacrifice, I hope to be here for many years, because it is the best club in the world.”
Zidane and Vallejo have not spoken
Following the presentation on the pitch, which included the obligatory high-pressure keepy-ups, Vallejo spoke to the press.
The defender revealed that he has not been in contact with Zinedine Zidane:
“I haven’t spoken with him, I don’t know him personally.”
Vallejo will wear the number '3' shirt vacated by Pepe.
