El Clásico 29 July: $10,000 on the resale market

Real Madrid play Barça in Miami at the end of the month as part of the International Champions Cup and demand for tickets is pushing prices sky high.

The first Clásico of the new season will be upon us earlier than ever as both sides meet as part of their pre-season preparations in the United States. Their match up at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (kicking off at 01:30 on the morning of Sunday 30 July CEST) has already seen tickets on sale for 10,000 US dollars (8,770 euros).

Madrid - Barça tickets soar

The practice of selling tickets in the resale market in the USA, especially seen for large sporting and entertainment events, is regulated and legal, unlike in other countries. These tickets can be aquired via the tournament's official website (International Champions Cup): the cheapest at $283 (248 euros). Excitement surrounding this 'friendly' match started as soon as the tickets went on sale in March with the initial round of ticket sales being completed in less than two days.

USA to put on a Clásico show

Obviously the local hype around the game has been huge - in true American style - with organisers promising a "spectacle to compare with the Super Bowl". Fan zones have been creared for both sets of supporters and influential latin singer Marc Anthony, will perform at half-time.

The Hard Rock Stadium's capacity of 65,326 will prevent this game from surpassing the record attendane at the International Champions Cup. The 2014 match between Madrid and Manchester United attracted 109,318 supporters at the Michigan university stadium.
