Nelson Semedo is a officially a Barcelona player. The Portuguese right-back passed a medical on Friday morning in the Catalan capital, before being presented as a new Barça player in the evening.
Semedo transfer speeded up
The move was accelerated as the day went on, after Benfica released a statement saying that the deal was not finalised, but that they had given the player permission to have a medical at Barcelona.
Barcelona to pay up to 35 million euros for Semedo
Barça will pay a fixed 30 million euro fee, with another five million in add ons, for the Portuguese right-back, who is signing on a five year deal.
Semedo to go on tour
Semedo is keen to get started at his new club, as is evidenced by his request to Barça to join training as soon as possible and to join the tour of the USA, which heads across the Atlantic on 19 July. Having played in the Confederations Cup this month in Russia with Portugal, Semedo still had two weeks more holiday and in theory could have joined the squad after the tour, along with André Gomes and Ter Stegan, who also took part in the tournament.
