The LFP has called on its Spanish counterpart to adhere to Fifa rules and has said it will offer legal support to club and player if required.

The French Professional Football League (LFP) has issued a statement in support of PSG and Neymar after its Spanish counterpart refused to accept the 222 million euros from representatives of the Brazilian forward as payment of the minimum release clause in the player’s contract with FC Barcelona.

Legal aid for Neymar and PSG

The LFP’s stance is based on the impact Neymar’s arrival in Ligue 1 will have and in that respect the French governing body has offered to put its legal department at the disposal of the player and PSG “so that Neymar’s contract can be registered as quicikly as possible.”

According to LÈquipe, Neymar is expected to arrive in Paris “at the latest on Friday.” PSG are eager to present the player the same day and although it will be too late for Neymar to be included in the squad to face Amiens in the Ligue 1 opener on Saturday the club hope he will be able to watch from the Parc des Princes stands.

LFP statement

The LFP expresses surprise and doesn't understand La Liga's refusal to simply accept the buy-out clause of the player Neymar.

The LFP asks La Liga to adhere to FIFA rules. The LFP supports Paris Saint-Germain and wishes the arrival of Neymar into Ligue 1.

The legal services of the LFP will support and are at the disposition of Paris Saint-Germain in order for Neymar's contract to be registered as quickly as possible.
