REAL MADRID-MANCHESTER UNITED

The Manchester United said he is interested in the Welsh player, "If Bale plays it is a sign that he is in Real Madrid's plan but if he's on his way out, we will be waiting."

Jose Mourinho spoke to the media ahead of Manchester United's clash with Real Madrid in Skopje in the European Super Cup. The Portuguese spoke about his side's interest in Gareth Bale, who will be under the microscope in Macedonia on Tuesday night.

"If he’s playing tomorrow, no I wouldn’t think of that. If he plays tomorrow it is be because he’s in the coach’s plans and the club’s plan and his own plan is to continue at Real Madrid and I wouldn't think about doing it. If he is not in the club’s plans and it's true what you write, that with the arrival of another player would mean he was on his way out, I will try to be waiting for him on the other side and fight with other coaches that are hoping for him. But if he plays tomorrow, that is the best evidence that he is going to continue," said Mourinho, almost goading Zidane into starting him.

Mourinho is also keen to play down United's chances, "We will try to win, of course. But the difference between the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League is ovbious. The Europa League is difficult because there are many games and lots of trips... And as for motivation, it's not the peak for football players. The Champions League is the highest of quality. So there is clearly a difference but it's possible. We think we can win."
