Ronaldo's five-game ban upheld by TAD as Real Madrid lose Cristiano until gameweek 5
The Spanish Disciplinary Committee for Sports said the referee's interpretation was not incorrect and the Real Madrid striker will fulfill the full five-game suspension.
The Spanish Disciplinary Committee for Sports has dismissed the appeal of Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo after he was sent off in the Spanish Super Cup for pushing referee De Burgos Bengoetxea. Ronaldo will serve the full suspension, which will include missing games against Valencia, Levante and Real Sociedad.
Ronaldo guilty of pushing the referee
The competition committee handed Ronaldo a five-game ban, which was upheld by the appeal committee and now the The Spanish Disciplinary Committee for Sports (TAD) has ratified the suspension stating, "the push the referee makes a record of can be seen in images of the game" and that although there may be other interpretations of the play, the referee's version was no incorrect. The push, which came with a four-game ban, and the dive that earned Ronaldo a second yellow card cost the Portuguese star one game. The appeal for the dive was also dismissed.
Ronaldo will not be able to play in LaLiga until the fifth matchday against Real Betis having already missed the Spanish Super Cup second leg and Real Madrid's recent victory over Deportivo la Coruña on the opening weekend of the season.
