PSG 3-0 Saint-Etienne: match report
In the end the Parisian side ran out comfortable victors at a packed Parc des Princes which tonight attracted such VIP's as Golden State Warriors player Steph Curry, former French president Francois Hollande, Valencia owner Peter Lim and former Manchester United defender Phil Neville.
The dignitaries were treated to a solid if at times far from convincing win for the home side against a gutsy Saint-Etienne who provided a stern test and enjoyed clear moments of dominance especially in the first 45'.
An Edinson Cavani penalty midway through the first half and an early Thiago Motta goal were enough to suck any sense of belief Oscar Garcia's side held as Neymar began to stamp his authority on the game with some fine runs and provided the assist for the Uruguayan's second goal of the night which Cavani nonchalantly back-heeled home from close range.
Great going forward but this PSG side still retain a certain defensive frailty and indeed the final scoreline could have been so very different had Saint-Etienne striker Bamba been more accurate when presented with two one-on-ones with PSG keeper Areloa.
PSG go top and will have the rest of the French league trembling even further if the growing rumours are true and Kylian Mbappe joins the Parisian outfit.

"We've been lucky to start the season well. We're going to Paris with not much to lose. When you see their squad it's another world," said Saint-Etienne centre-back Perrin, adding there was no particular plan to subdue Neymar.
"Neymar is an exceptional player who is one of the top three in the world and it's exciting to measure yourself against such a player.
"It's becoming harder and harder when you play Paris and it's the same for everyone. You have to believe you can pull off an upset and anything is possible in a match if lots of things go your way."
