David Villa in Spain World Cup squad
One possible surprise inclusion is that of David Villa, currently scoring goals in the MLS for New York City FC. Along with the previous World Cup winner, Lopetegui selected plenty of creativity with AC Milan's Suso, Real Madrid's Asensio, to join the likes of Iniesta, Isco and David Silva.
Shortly after the official announcement, Villa took to Twitter:
"Very excited. Thank you to those who trust in me enough to once again put the shirt back on me."
Muy emocionado. Gracias a los que confían en mí para ponerme de nuevo esta camiseta. ⚽🇪🇸 https://t.co/pBnqEFIejl— David Villa (@Guaje7Villa) 25 August 2017
